The Future Direction Of Perforation Technology

The Future Direction Of Perforation Technology

As the development of oil and gas fields continues to transfer to unconventional oil and gas such as shale gas, coalbed methane, tight oil and gas, as well as the thin layer and bottom water block at the edge of the main oilfield, and at the same time, in order to meet the production needs of a large number of old oilfields to increase production and injection, and excavate the remaining oil in the flooded layer, perforation not only plays the role of opening the wellbore and formation, but also pays more attention to the close combination with reservoir geology and completion technology, especially with completion tools.

For unconventional oil and gas such as shale gas, coalbed methane, and ultra-low permeability consistent oil and gas, hydraulic fracturing is required to obtain production capacity.

For special structural wells such as inclined wells (including large slope wells), cluster wells, horizontal wells, etc., effective control of fracture direction and improvement of joint network system are the key to determining the oil and gas production capacity of single wells. For these oil and gas wells, the problems that perforation should solve are:

obtain a larger circulation and discharge area on the well wall;

effectively reduce the reservoir rupture pressure and reduce the difficulty of hydraulic fracturing;

Scientifically guide the extension direction of fracturing cracks, induce the communication between fracturing cracks and natural cracks, improve the seam network system, and improve production capacity.

Based on fixed surface perforation, fixed angle perforation and fixed azimuth perforation, the complementary advantages and organic set of the three perforation technologies are realized, and a perfect “3D” perforation technology and its supporting technology are formed, which will become a new idea for the development of unconventional oil and gas reservoirs and special structural wells. At the same time, it is necessary to establish “3D” perforation technology detection methods and optimization systems, and form perforation technology schemes that match the characteristics of different well types, well conditions and oil and gas reservoirs to achieve the goal of increasing production capacity.
